drop down lists identifiers

In my XL2003 workbooks, I have a number of drop down lists. The small
indicator to the right only appears when I click on a cell with a list in it.

I have seen spreadsheets where every list is permanently identifiable as the
indicator is permanently visible.

How is this done please

Thanks in anticipation

Hi,

You may have seen a combo-box.

View|Toolbars|Forms

From the forms toolbar put a combo-box on you wrksheet.

In those spreadsheets, it is likely that they are using comboboxes, not data
validation.

I just use a cell colour for the DV cells, works fine for me.

Its just dawned on me that the Combo Box is floating and is not relevant to a
particular cell which is clearly why I cannot get the calculations to work.

I guess my next question is, "Is it possible to link Combo Boxes to a
particular cell ?"

Many thanks

Hi Bob

Thanks for the reply. Have already tried that idea but it doesnt really get
me to where I would ideally like to get to.

Thanks anyway

Its a bit convoluted but weve cracked it. Link the combo box to a cell and it
places a value in that cell. Use that number to create the argument in the
formula
