Drop down list problem

Hi, with the help of this group I have successfully created a spread sheet
with a number of drop down lists to select from. However with one particular
list (of numbers 1-24), despite naming the list and using data validation
exactly as before, all the dropdown list presents is the name of the list.
Whatever I name the list as, is presented as the only choice. I just don't
understand what is happening.
Anyone got any ideas?
