If you used a range for your list you need to go to that range and
modify it,

if you want to change the list in the dropdown click the cells you want
changed and do your data validation and assign a new range to the cells

Sorry but you lost me! When I start to input a name into the cell the
cell will try to prognate with a previous name unless I keep typing.
Excell adds to the list with unique names as unique names are added to
the cells in the specific referenced column.

I have not used a range and have looked into data validation with not
success!

Oh, I am with you now, when you type in data in a cell, words come up
that excel thinks you might be using, this happens when you have a
bunch of words either up your column or below depending on where the
list is:

I don't know how to turn that off, I would like to know that as well

To turn off the feature, choose Tools>Options
On the Edit tab, remove the check mark from 'Enable AutoComplete for
cell values'
Click OK

Thanks for the info on how to disable the drop-down list but what I
really want to know is how to clean it up. I still want to use it but
want to eliminate or remove only a few of the names in the list.
Anyway to open the list and modify it?

Thanks
