Drop Down Form Field

I want to make a Microsoft Word Form. I have included a couple of drop down
form fields and selected 'protect form' to be able to interact with the drop
down lists. But by doing this I cannot type in the form.

My question is how can I have an interactive form, with drop down lists, and
still be able to type on other parts of the document.

You have to insert text form fields where you want to permit text entry.
Alternatively, you can insert a section break and leave a section
unprotected.
