Drop Down Box containing a symbol

I'd like to create a drop down option with just the square root
symbol, no other options. Is this possible?

In the cell that you want the drop down in click DATA in the menu and select
VALIDATION. Change the ALLOW value to List and then in the SOURCE field,
while holding down the ALT key type the number 251 using the number pad on
the keyboard, not the numbers above the alpha keys.

Click OK to exit.

Thanks Kevin - I had tried something similar earlier but was using
221a (not sure where I got that from, I think maybe that's what it
said in the symbol box - I'm on excel 2003, so maybe it is
different).

Anyway - I tried that, and held down alt while using the number keypad
and nothing entered. I did have the checkbox in an unused cell on the
page so I clicked that for source and it worked. Would like to know
the other way though, any idea why I couldn't get it to type?
