Drives cd and DVD

HI everyone

I have recently added a new harddrive to my pc and i just cant seem to
get everything working properly

i have
1 80gb HD Master
1 40gb Hd Slave

1 cdrw
1 dvd

i have the CD and DVD connected on one controller cable however i
cannot get the DVD to work if it is connected as a slave or the CD if i
disconect the dvd from the slave plug the cd works fine

I also get an ATPI error press F1 to continue on boot up but the 2 HD
drives work fine and no problems there

Can some either offer some clues or a web site that might help me
trouble shoot this. As far as i can tell i have correct jumper settings

My OS is winxp professional

any help greatly apreciated

Greg

The CDRW and DVD jumper setting MUST be set differently. One must be set as
Master and the other must be set as Slave. Or, they can be both set up
with the jumper setting as "Cable select". This will make the drive which
is connected to the middle connector of the IDE cable as slave and the end
connector will assign the drive as master.

Also, this may correct ATPI (that ATAPI) problem. Motherboards have two
ATAPI(IDE) control ports. The first one is where your hard drivers (HD) are
connected and the second is where the CDRW/DVD are connected to.
