Hi,

I had Windows Vista RC2 installed and it worked great. I installed all the
drivers using the XP versions. However, Vista Ultimate refuses to allow me
to do this to install drivers for my Sharp AL-1045 printer copier. There are
no Vista drivers available from the manufacturer but I feel rather deceived
by Microsoft that it worked in the Beta but not in the final release which I
have gone out and bought.

I've tried disabling Driver Signing Enforcement and install the drivers and
the bcdedit command but neither of these work. Is there any way of getting
my printer working in Vista?

I'd be really grateful for your help.

Many thanks!

I might be wrong but it sounds like you were running Vista RC2 x86
and you now have Vista x64 installed. With Vista x86 there is no driver
signing requirements and some XP drivers will work. With Vista x64 all
drivers have to be 64-bit, driver signing is required, some signed XP x64
drivers will work. My Epson CX4800 all-in-one works properly using XP x64
drivers in Vista x64, no Vista specific drivers were released the last time
that I checked. The bottom line is that Vista has specific driver
requirements, just because a driver works with XP or XP x64 isn't a
guarantee that it will work with Vista. Have a great day.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I was using Vista RC2 x86 but I'm using Vista x86 (32
bit version) now and experiencing this problem. I just don't understand why
I could install the drivers in RC2 and not in the final release.

Thanks.

Driver signing shouldn't be an issue with Vista x86. Driver
compatibility has varied from build to build, now that Vista is final we
need to get the proper drivers.
