Drivers for Altec lansing Speaker

J

Joan Haley

I purchased a new computer with XP, but it does not
support my speaker system from my old computer. Does
Windows XP have drivers to suport Altec zlansing audio
system? My speakers are the ADA-305.
Thanks

#1 The ADA305 and the ADA495 speakers were discontinued (that means
they did
not make them anymore) a year and a half before WinXP ever came out.
Why on
earth would a company develop drivers for something that has been
discontinued for so long just because a new OS comes out. Especially
when
the speakers will work just fine without the software. The USB and
software
were an extra feature that no other speaker they made had. Unplug the
dam
USB cable and dont install software and now you have a normal set of
speakers that work perfectly fine by just controlling it from the
right
speaker. SOUND DOES NOT TRAVEL THROUGH THAT USB CABLE.

Also,
People People,
The speakers are designed to work as SPEAKERS. You don't need software
for
home speakers do you?
The USB and Software is for the volume interface. Altec does not
support
past win 98. You can still do all functionality through the buttons on
the
speakers. 1. unplug the USB cable 2. TO change from stereo to Dolby
Pro
logic Press and hold the CENTER button for 3 seconds you will see the
light
on front change from amber to green. 3. to control the sub press the
sub
button and turn the big volume knob. 4. ditto for the center and
surround
speakers.
Other wise check out the plus pak for XP from MS. They have speaker
profiles, whatever that means for the ada-305/acs 495.
AGAIN, THE ONLY REASON FOR THE SOFTWARE AND USB CONNECTION WAS FOR THE
FANCY
VOLUME CONTROL INTERFACE. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SOUND QUALITY
OF THE
SPEAKERS EXCEPT FOR VOLUME CONTROL.
