Driver won't stay installed

I just installed a new motherboard and did a clean install of XP Pro. I
have a Hauppauge WinTV card. It installs OK but I have to steer the install
to a specific location and get a prompt that it isn't the right driver for
my hardware, but it is, and it installs and works fine. However, every time
I reboot my computer it "finds new hardware" and I have to reinstall it
again. If I cancel out of it, then the card doesn't work.
What do I have to do to make it stay put?
+ Happy New Year!

I have the same problem with several of my devices.

I can only guess, but I am guessing that you have a basic
incompatibility.

If the device isn't one that XP recognizes as Plug n Play,
you're likely to have problems.

It's also not uncommon to have to reinstall the s/w / driver
every time you want to use the device.

perhaps it's time to be grateful it works at all.

My palmtop plain isn't compatible with my PC. I have to use
a 2nd PC JUST to backup my PDA data.

It must have something to do with the motherboard. It's the same card I had
in the old motherboard, and it stayed installed OK with that one.
I'll see if the drivers that S.Sengupta are any newer than the ones I'm
using.

Well, that did the trick. The drivers I originally used are ones I
downloaded from there on Dec 24th, wdm346_23061.exe.
This one was wdm346_23061.exe... huh? (That was cut and paste and I see
it's the same file)!
Well, apparently uninstalling and reinstalling is what it needed... :-)
Well, thanks for pointing me there... it led me to getting it working!

Try to install the latest driver.
