I don't know exactly why because you didn't give any information about
your computer, but you actually got lucky. It's a very bad idea to
install drivers from Windows Update. You shoud always go to the device
mftr.'s website for updated drivers, but in most cases if it ain't
broke, don't fix it. In other words, unless you want to update your
video card drivers to get support for a new game or you are having
problems with a device, just leave well enough alone. And don't install
drivers from Windows Update.
