DriveImage 2002 & DVD-RW?

G

Gina

Hi all,

Has anyone used DriveImage 2002 with a DVD-RW drive, successfully?

I've had PowerQuest Drive Image 2002 for some time now and it worked great
with my Plextor CD-RW drive. Recently, I aquired and installed a Plextor
DVD-RW drive. I went to make a backup today, and though it recognized my
DVD-RW drive, it seems Drive Image doesn't give you an option to write to a
DVD-RW drive, as it does with Zip Drive, Cd-R and the like in the "Split
Image to Mulitple Files" option drop down box. However, I can choose to
split the image file in 4000MB files by just typing in 4000 in the little
box. Does this work? Or do I need to upgrade or download something.

It seems Symantec aquired this software, to which I groaned aloud after
finding out. I couldn't find all the previous info on 2002 about DVD-RW
drives and supporting them.

Thanks for any help,
Gina

I'm not certain, but I think you do need DI 7.0, ie.e another $70.

No shit, I sent three separate supports calls via their web client, over a
week agao, and they have answered none of them so far.
What BS!

Nope, DI 2002 will only write 2GB files even if you dont tell it
to split at all. Thats really just a cosmetic 'problem' tho, it really
doesnt make a lot of different with whats written to the DVDs.
Or do I need to upgrade or download something.

Havent tried the latest DI 7 on that. I vaguely recall that
someone said that it will write to a DVD burner, but not
to DVD media, only CD media or some crudity like that.

Its available as a free trial download if you want to try that.

Yeah, its obvious why they want to kill off PowerQuest.

Fortunately there are a number of other
competitors now like Acronis and NTI.

There never was much.

I use DI 7 and it is supposed to write to CD-R and DVD-RW. I don't use
-RW so I can't test it but I see no reason why it won't work.

They still haven't answered two web based support messgaes or two direct
emails and the worst that I have said in one of them was that I wanted my
money back if they didn't resolve the issues I had.

Sounds to me like Symantic doesn't give a shit about this product at all.
Probably just bout it to kill iot off, that is if they have their own
solution forthcoming.
