Bob

I have recently installed the blaster worm patch, upgraded
my Norton Antivirus to the latest edition and installed
service pack 4 for Windows 2000. Now my machine gives me
the above error message when I try to use the removable
drivces, a, e, f. The C drive seems to wrok fine. I had
Nero 5.0 installed but uninstalled it tonight on advise
from the Norton website. No luck. Does it make any sense
to safe mode and go back to the last good configuration
and restore the system? Any advise or help will be
appreciated.

Hi Bob

- Delete all the Inaccessible Devices in the Device Manager

- Reboot and let Windows re-install them again.

- Install the *latest* Nero Version (6.x) or at least 5.5.10.x (available
on www.nero.com) and reboot.

If this does not help, take a look at those two MS KB-Articles:

- "Incorrect "Prevent Access to Drives from My Computer" Informational
Message":

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315191

and

- <"Incorrect Function> Error Message When You Access the CD-ROM Drive,
DVD-ROM Drive, or CD-RW Drive":

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q315350

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
