Drive Letters

I had a hard disk crash and received a new hard disk from
the system manufacturer. I reinstalled Windows XP Home
Edition. After loading all the updates, etc. it appeared
everything went fine. When I looked at the hard drive
with Windows Explorer, I found the Jaz drive is disk C
(on a SCSI), the CDRW is disk D, and my hard disk is disk
E. So far, (although somewhat confusing) its worked with
all my normal programs (e.g., Office, Quicken, etc).
However, Turbo Tax can only be installed on Drive C. It
did install on the Jaz and appears to work OK (I guess
the IRS will let me know if it's not).

My question:

Short of uninstalling the Jaz drive, reformatting the
hard disk, and reinstalling Windows does anybody know how
I can change the drive letters?

The only problem here is that all your shortcuts and registry settings for
your software will now be set to drive E.

Have you tried switch the system on with the Jaz drive powered off? Do the
drive letters change round if you do this.

You can use Disk Management which can be found by right clicking on my
computer and then selecting manage. This will let you change the letters,
but as I first mentioned all your software and registry settings are now
configured for your current letters.

If you do decide to rebuild the system then switch off the Jaz drive during
the Windows install, and ensure that your Hard disk is drive C. You may
also need to change the boot order in the BIOS to prevent the SCSI device
from stealing the drive C letter again at a later date.
