My step daughter has a Toshiba laptop computer and when she plugs in her
digital camera it bumps the cd rom drive and it disappears meaning that the
cd rom is drive "E" and when she plugs the camera in it becomes drive "E"
and the cd rom disappears. How do I get the drive back and how do I lock the
drive letters so that it doesn't bump it no more?
Thanks

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

The easy way?

Start
Run
Type "diskmgmt.msc" without the quotes
Press enter or click okay
In the bottom section scroll down
Find the optical drive
Right click on it
Select change drive letter and paths
Click Change on the new window
Assign it a value of, oh, Z or something
Click OK a few times

Alternatively, plug the camera in - repeat the above process, except try
assigning the camera a letter ABOVE the E by at least a few places. So, give
it a letter of X or something in other words and that will often do the
trick and allow the optical drive to retain it's current letter at all
times.
