Drive letter change

I plugged in my removeable DVD writer and backed up some photos. The system
then changed the letter of some drives, importantly, my external hard drive
when I store photos, music, etc. This is a mess since the programs can't
find the data on (J:), since it has been renamed (k:). How do I get these
drives renamed.

Right click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop
Manage
+Storage-Disk Management
Right click the drive
Change drive letters...
follow the prompts.

Unplug all external drives - reboot.
Plug back in the external hard drive where you '... store photos, music, etc
....'

Better?

You can also use Disk Management to successfully change the drive letter of
any drive in your system other than your System Drive (usually C:.)
