Dreamscene high cpu use

what was all that about it using almost no processor resources?

I go from 2% at idle without dreamscene to 40 to 50% at idle with it
enabled. That's pretty significant cpu usage and is definately a noticable
hit on performance.

3ghz p4 with 2gb ram and a 256mb 6800gt.

What gives?

It's in preview right now, not a final.

Although, it should put more pressure on your GPU, not your CPU. I'm using a
P4 3.0 HT with 1GB RAM and an ATI x800XT as one of my machines. ~5% CPU
usage at idle.

It "preview" because people didn't want to wait for the finished product.

Preview = beta software (still under development)

I have a Pentium D with 3.4ghz, 2GB RAM, and a Nvidia card with 256mg RAM and
my CPU jumps to about 50% as well. I hope the final uses less cpu power.

I was wondering. They released it as an update and I thought maybe that was
just the name of it - 'wasn't sure but suspected from the way it was talked
about. 'Installed it anyway and works great here. I can hardly wait for the
finished product. I really enjoy using Vista. The more I use it the more I
like it.

It may be an issue with the NVIDIA drivers causing the high CPU usage. I
tested it with another MPG file and am still getting <10% CPU usage.

I like it, too. It seems that the ones that don't like it have driver issues
that are caused by the third party products. HP, Epson and in the spotlight:
NVIDIA.

Dreamscene is awesome, and works great on my system!

I realise that but still, with numbers like that it's almost as though the
cpu is doing the rendering. The included green and blue swoop content is very
low motion yet still drives a 40% cpu hit.

I did a little experiment and set one of those wmv hd sample clips, fighter
pilot 1080p, as the wallpaper. It actually runs smoother with a slightly
lower 38% or so cpu hit than the swoop background.

Go figure.

Hi!

With DreamScene, I have 4% CPU usage at idle.

PC : Pentium D 3,73 GHZ, nvidia 7900GTX, 4 GB RAM

Bye!

seems to be a combination of either /or intel cpu or nvidia video card.
anyone without either does not experience that high an increase.

the thing to do is see what the cpu usage in when playing the same video with a different player.

I am experiencing the same high CPU usage and I have a dual core AMD 4800
with 3 gigs and 2 nvidia 6800 GS.
