Dragging and dropping tasks

I have my task list grouped by category. Is it possible to drag and drop
from one group to the other to move it rather than to just add it to the
category?

e.g. move from Office to Home by dragging and dropping. Currently, it would
just add it to the Home category so it ends up in both Office and Home.

No, because Categories is a multi-valued field. If you want to change an item's category from Office to Home, select the item(s), right-click, then choose Categories.
