drag and drop does not work at all

Dear sir

I have windows xp professional as operating system and
256mb of ram and problem I am facing is my drag and drop
does not work for destopicons or in word 2003

I am not able to move any icons on desktop from one place
to another and also in word 2003 I am not able tous drag
and drop I have enable all options of drag and drop in
word and it does not help

I have formatted machine and installed again whole
windows xp professional since 2 days but all in vain as
it does not solve problem
please provide me kb article and near by solution so that
my problem is solved

Check out start>settings>taskbar and start menu>start

menu>customize, check to see if the option "enable
dragging and dropping" is checked if not check it then
apply
