Dr Watson - Multiple Versions - Why?

Hi,

I've lived with an anomaly for awhile.
When closing out of WinWoes, I receive two grip-o-gram windows.
One complaining about not being able to load DWWIN.EXE.
The other complains about not being able to load DRWTSN32.EXE.
They eventually time out... WinWoe mercifully dies....

It's not like everything worked all that well while I was online.
Why didn't Dr. Watson go ballistic then?

In true MicroSloth fashion, you can't win - you can't break even - and
(according to multiple versions of Dr. Watson) you can't quit the game.

In the death throws of closing WinWoes, is there anything relevant the Dr.
Watson application should be surviving long enough for - to report?
or,
Should one just be grateful that it expired.

Back in the day, I've had manifestions (possibly infestations) of WinWoes
that simply refused to die... they'd hang on exit.
If it weren't for power glitches from occassional thunderstorms, they would
still be trying to close.

I can see why DRWTSN32.EXE might be around to complain.
but,
Why is DWWIN.EXE singing harmony?
Shouldn't an OS sporting a SP4 be smart enough to pick the more relevant of
two obsolete applications.

I suppose this was all fixed in mohave, sahara, gobi, death valley,,, or
whatever desert you are calling vista these daze.
I'd upgrade - but, then I'd have to replace my printer, my mouse, my
keyboard, my mouse pad - and, all the pens in my pocket protector.

Sounds like a badly maintained computer system or defective hardware
possibly.

When was SP4 released?

There are some suggestions here.

Thanks,
This was the closest thing to a solution.
It provides in depth instructions on how to hunt down and kill off the DWWIN
and DRWTRN32 apps.

It's a little gutsy to manually edit the registry - (editor beware)
It's, also, validating to see that the annoyance is fairly common place.
It takes that - why me factor out of it... or, WinWoes has it in for just me.
Just because you are paranoid - it doesn't mean that the world isn't out to
get ya.
It would be easier (possibly safer) just to delete the EXE's - then reboot a
couple of times.
The registry should flush itself if it can't find the files.
Of course, any SP updates could re-install it.

It was a bit of a disappointment in that the execution-burp is simply
excepted.
Just one of those MS things.
So long as the OS doesn't cause anything to burst into flames, it must be
working.

It "is" ironic that the maintenance application that is supposed to report
problems back to the home planet - is actually creating a problem - which it
refused to report....
That's just plain wrong.
