I am having difficulty downloading a security patch for XP(811493), I keep
getting an error message saying, xpsp1hfm.exe is not a valid win32
application.
Could someone explain that to me or please tell me what I am doing wrong!!

Are you trying to download 64 bit version?
Download 32 bit version.

Maybe the fact that you're running the 32-bit version of XP, and trying to
run a 64-bit program on a 32-bit machine is like trying to fit a round peg
in a square hole.
