Hi, Can anyone help.
I cant seem to download anything such as Google Earth. I get as far as RUN
then when I click RUN nothing happensDennis

Hi Jon,
It won't save to desktop either. It seem as though I can not down load
anything not even attachments to my e.mails.

How about some details? Are you using Internet Explorer? Are you
prompted to run or save the file? Do you click "Save"? Do you see a
progress bar after that? Do you finally see a message indicating the
download is complete?

Hi Jon,
Yes internet explorer. Yes promted to run or save.( I have tried both). Yes
progrss bar runs to 100%. No do not see down load complete. Sometimes after
run and progress bar I get window to open I click open then nothing happens.

Try this:

Open My Computer. Double-click the C: partition to view its contents.
Double-click the folders Documents and Settings -> <yourusername> ->
Local Settings -> Temporary Internet Files. For <yourusername>,
substitute your login name.

You may not see the Local Settings folder as it is hidden. If this is
the case, go to the Tools menu and click "Folder Options". Click the
View tab. Under Hidden files and folders, select "Show hidden files and
folders". Click Okay and continue.

In Temporary Internet Files, type "\Content.IE5" at the end of the
address bar (without the quotes). The address bar is directly below the
toolbar. Note the back-slash (\), not a forward-slash (/). Click The
green Go arrow.

Click the Search button in the toolbar. You will search "All files and
folders". For "All or part of file name", type ".exe" (without the
quotes) and click "Search".

Does anything appear in the search results?

Hi Jon,
Got as far as temporary internet files but can not see address bar click on
view checked address bar but still cant see. I do have this in my temp files
that I can't delete H2kJezK44 yur0BhwYql+Fg+2EM/H2kJezK44= (TYPE) BIN

I must be paranoid...I have an external USB HDD that I use to save downloads
too.
If something strange starts happening/installing after a download, I can
just unplug the USB cable.
The other advantage is a single d/l for programs/updates I want on multiple
systems. I can just plug the external HDD in whatever machine I want to
install to. Some could be done over the LAN, but I have the files available
when I go on service calls as well.

Hi Jon,
Have gone to VIEW>TOLLBARS>ADDRESS BAR and it does not appear
Ill try a new folder tomorrow. We have a time to talk problem I live in Spain
and I am a few hours in front of you.

Something else to try: In IE, go to Tools -> Internet Options. Click
the General tab. In Temporary Internet Files, click "Delete cookies"
and "Delete Files". Click OK when asked to confirm. Try downloading
again.

Is 'File Download' disabled in the 'Security' section of Internet Options
(Security Tab\Custom Level, scroll down to 'Downloads', under which the 2nd
option should be 'File Download'. Make sure that the "Enable" option is
selected.)? Are you able to download other files?

Hi Alex I will try what you have suggested later. I'm off to the airport now
to pick up my daughter.
