downloads stop

I have a new computer with XP Pro. When downloading from
any source, the download starts, then stops. In some
cases, I can cancel a download, re-connect, get a little
more of the download, then repeat until the download is
comlete. In other cases, nothing is saved and I can
never complete the download. Any suggestions on this
problem.

Bad phone line, cheap and nasty modem (or are you on cable?), lousy ISP
... there are endless possibilities, of which 'an XP problem' is probably
bottom of the list.

Is this a new ISP for you as well as a new computer? If you're still
using the same ISP, then you should give them a call.

I have a rotten connection and things are better with the XP computer
as far as disconnects (haven't had five years to mess it up), but
large downloads are breaking up something awful. I'm using Fresh
Download because it picks up where the download stopped; can't say I'm
crazy about it, though.
