Downloads hang

I upgraded to IE v6 SP1 and ever since have been having
problems with downloads. Sometimes they work, but most of
the time they don't. Whether I try to save or open, it
often hangs and freezes that window. Any suggestions?

Debra,

This problem may happen if you are using third-party download managers.
disable them and check if the problem is resolved. If not, try this:

Click Start | Run | Regedit
Goto this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Choose file > Export and save it as a .REG file (as a backup)
In the right-pane, change the data for "DownloadUI" to blank.
Logoff and re-login
Download a software.
