when I hit on a url that's a zip file I want to download IE starts
downlpading it immediately, without asking me where to put it.. (I
recently upgraded from 6.0 to 7 (IE 6 didn't do this..) how do I
configure IE7(XP) so it asks me first where I want to download a file?
I'm searching for a file I just downloaded, I can't find it..)

thank you...

Then right-click on the url and choose "Save target as"....

In the Open/Save/Cancel box of zip file, untick the box "Always ask me...." and
click Save or Open.

If you choose Save >
Select a location and that will become the default location. IE will never ask
again and automatically save zip files to that location.

If you chose Open >
It will always open the file.

To Undo this:
Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types tab
Highlight ZIP and click Advanced button
Tick "Confirm open after ..."
