Downloading XP updates

I have tried without success to download via a 56K modem
the appropriate updates for my PC. Each time I get a break
in the connection and have to start again. I have access
in my office to a high speed link; how can I download the
appropriate updates that I can then transfer to my home PC?

Direct Download Alternatives to Windows Update for all Critical Updates:

First, go to windows update, write down all the critical updates that
are listed. Then go to the Windows Update Catalog and download the
patches to your harddrive, and manually install the patches. Make sure
you create a restore point, before beginning the manual patching
process, and disconnect from the internet, and also turn off your AV.

Another way to get most if not all the critical updates is by getting
them to thru MS's Security Bulletins Archive:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/archive.asp

Find the ones that are on your critical update list from windows update.
