Downloading Vista RC1 from within the USA

Hi, I am a Microsoft Beta tester and I was e-mailed recently by Microsoft
regarding the latest Vista RC1 version. The first time I tried to download it
I ran out of disk space on my main OS partition so I wasn't able to complete
the download. I was using the direct download option from Internet Explorer.
So I lost the original file. I also checked the IP address as I always do
from which I download anything for the first time in order to verify the
legitimacy of the target location of the application. Unfortunately the IP
address was a bit of a mystery because it was a USA based server location in
the state of Arizona however it had a global name allocation, hinting that
this may have been routed outside the US regardless. I must say thought the
bandwidth was very good going beyond my own bandwidth. Why is this IP
addressing a concern? Well since I'm a US citizen and a residence thereof, I
feel that I should be getting a legitimate US version. I'm thinking there is
a difference not just with the default language but also encryption
protection and that all the code is bound by US law giving the users the same
legal protection. Please clarify if this should or shouldn't be a concern.

So I changed the location of my Internet Files folder to a larger partition
so I can accept the large file. But now when I try and download it I am
getting redirected to a foreign database such as Australia or Canada and the
bandwidth is a joke and not adequate for the large broadband connection I
have. Why is this happening? It seems odd to me since I am in the USA, why
can't I get a US data based server that should provide the proper Vista
version and adequate bandwidth?

Vista Beta testers can choose between 3 groups of servers; United States,
Europe and Asia, all user-selectable via Connect. The versions mirrored on
all sets of servers are identical.

I thought perhaps there are Import Export laws that needed to be carefully
managed. In particular the current versions of Windows OS software actually
have an Import or Export Lsass.exe file version. This file is in direct
relation to security and encryption. Maybe something else going on. Hmmm
still confused. Thanks.

Boy, be realistic.

This Version is available in the WHOLE World. Import/Export ?! It is a
timebombed BETA.

Nobody would care about such stuff at this point as it expires soon enough.

also think of the ones that not have used the legal way. You can download
Vista RC1 all over the net

and it's always the same one, available in three languages.that's all.

Sascha let's stick to the facts shall we. First I am not a boy. Please keep
your gender tone comments out of this discussion. This question is
legitimate and does have bearing regardless of Beta status.

Import and Export behavior is a very real concern with more than just
curious users I can tell you or we wouldn't have specific applications being
written for specific regions of the world. Just have a look into this
subject sometime in a detailed study. My question was important regarding
my testing purposes using Vista RC1 but I now see there is nobody here that
will be able to help on a professional level.

The facts are that there are differences within regional locations as I have
recently discovered and to explain in great length here would not be
appropriate in this forum, but I can tell you it does not have the users
privacy or security in mind.
