Downloading Problem with DWL-G650+ on Win XP

Hello,

I have a downloading problem with my D-Link wireless cardbus adapter
DWL-G650+ which I'm using with my Fujitsu-Siemens Laptop. When I try
to download very large files, the card downloads to a certain point,
then the disconnection message box appears for a few seconds after the
wireless internet connection is promptly re-established and
downloading continues. This can happen a few times when I'm
downloading a file of say 120 MB and normally it wouldn't bother me,
but it often happens that the files I'm downloading cannot continue
from their disconnection point and I'm forced to try to download them
again from scratch.

At first I thought the problem was with the hotspot but then I tried
at a different one and had the same disconnection problem. I looked up
the settings under Windows XP and it shows that the card is working
fine and there are no hardware conflicts. My built-in LAN card works
fine when I use it with a cable. Can anyone advise what is the problem
here???

Thanks.

I was having problems with my wireless connection at
first, and I seem to have fixed it by setting my wirless
card to output it's maximum power. Try searching around
in the device properties or if there was any extra
software, see if you can find it in there. For some
reason (I still haven't figured out exactly why yet...)
certain programs are very sensitive to the power that
your computer connects to the hotspot/wifi router with.
My friend was having problems with MSN Messenger
disconnecting him when he was on wifi. I told him to set
his card to always output at it's maximum power and it
seems to have solved the problem.

Hope this helps,

Nick
