I'm trying to upgrade one of the office computers from Windows 98 to
Windows XP, so that we can network. Unfortunatly the manager lost the
Windows XP disc from their recent computer purchase. So how can I download
Windows XP from their computer in order to upgrade the 2nd computer.

First, you don't to upgrade to network.

Unfortunatly the manager lost
the Windows XP disc from their recent computer purchase.

Losing the CD is bad, because you may needit in th efuture. Howver you
wouldn't ne able to use it on the Windows 98 computer anyway, for two
reasons:

1. All copies of Windows are licensed to be used on a single computer only.

2. If the CD that was lost came with a recent computer purchase, it's an OEM
copy and OEM copies can't do upgrades, only clean installations.

So how can
I download Windows XP from their computer in order to upgrade the 2nd
computer.

You can't. Even if the two issues I mentioned above weren't applicable, you
still couldn't do this.

Contact Microsoft. You might just get a nice technician who
will send you a replacement disk.

I am presuming you have a key.

They will ask where you bought it, how much you paid, and
the key.

Good luck!

Besides all the advice already posted, you should have no problems networking Win9x & WinXP.

One should always own the CD for the OS they want to use.
