downloading from microsoft

ive had problems with my computor, its a 2.4 ghz pentium
4 with a 200gb ultra ata/100 hard drive and xp pro.in
the past month and a half, ive replaced two hard
drives.dell tells me not to do any up dates. unless i
need them. what about critical updates? and how do i know
when i need them? also it seems with a 200 gb hard drive
as big as it is something in windows turns on and and
wont let me in windows. after turning it off windows
comes back on.i believe some of the techs at dell did not
understand and may have caused some of the damage .
should i get the updates? dean fluss

FWIW, security and critical updates are absolutely a must install. The rest can
be installed if you felt like it, but not necessary.
