Downloading files off the internet

I have been trying desperately for a while to figure out
why all of a sudden I cannot download files, patches,
programs, etc. off of a website. I am running Windows XP.

Can someone please help?

What web site? Have you installed any Internet security
software? Have you set or changed any settings?

You may have blocked cookies from a site that requires them,
you may have disabled Java or DirectX, the problem is most
likely some simple setting. You could have a virus, but
some setting in security or privacy is more likely.
