Since I updated to Vista, I have been having trouble downloading larger
files. For example I am trying to get the new driver for my sound card which
is 10.4M. But when I download it, it only goes to about 1M to 4M and then
stops and says its done. I would have though it was just the server but I
have this problem with different files from different servers and only
started when I upgraded. I have tried everything I can think of but I am
stuck.

Thanks

Hmmmmm - it would seem you are advising people to use a specific program -
that although free - is considered a risk by McAfee...and when installing,
tries to install "spector pro" onto the computer.

From Webroot Spy Sweeper.....

Spector Pro
Unique Code - DS44A
Type - Commercial System Monitor
Severity - Critical
Description -
Spector Pro is a monitoring program that secretly tracks all activities of
computer users.

Characteristics -
Spector Pro may monitor and capture your computer activity, including
recording all keystrokes, e-mails, chat room dialogue, instant message
dialogue, Web sites visited, usernames, passwords, and programs run.

This program may be capable of taking screen shots of your desktop at
scheduled intervals, storing the information on your computer in an
encrypted log file for later retrieval. These log files may be e-mailed to a
pre-defined e-mail address. This program can run in the background, hiding
its presence.

Therefore I would suggest you leave THIS particular download manager well
alone.

FG

this is wrong... the program has been updated to remove all adware that
existed in the past...
the only thing it has is an option to find other mirrors... but you can turn
it off since it asks in the beginning...

If you are in doubt contact the flashget developers and mcafee and find out
what is happening. I trust mcafee less... not to mention norton which has
horrible products (unless they bought the apps from other developers like
partition magic - which they are killing by the way)

if you are paranoid (and you are by the way) you should use another one

www.freedownloadmanager.org

I wonder how many dangers VISTA itself has... LOL

I would say between a trillion and a vistillion.

What do you expect from him? lol

To Darvin, what files and what servers?

I've had this issue before and it turned out to be an issue with my ISP.

One thing some people don't realize is that ISP's cache frequently accessed
information on their servers and sometimes that data gets corrupted.

What helped one time was clearing out my DNS cache.

Open a command prompt and type in at the command line ipconfig /flushdns

That should clear out the DNS Resolver Cache and the downloads should work
at that point.

shane... you are full of it...and you are insulting.... SHAME ON YOU SHANE

Flashget does not do all that.. taking screenshots of your desktop...
lol.... have you used the friking thing at all?
Well I have .. FOR YEARS!

It has a torrent client thing now, that I dont use, and a service tha can
search for alternat mirrors for a file you are downloading, but while you
install it asks you if you want it

all these are to help the user.. but if you are PARANOID you can turn them
off...

Heck if you are paranoid you shouldnt be using Vista then with all its phone
home and DRM crap.

And you know this to be 100% true...how?

By the then the damage is done as the spyware has already installed it would
seem

I am not in any doubt - as the warnings flashed up when I went to the site
and again on install.
if you are paranoid (and you are by the way)

and suddenly pointing the finger at me regarding "paranoia" (as you see it)
dissolves the original issue?

You suggested to the poster to use a program that has documented issues....

Back up your claims with the same or don't suggest....it is that simple.

I have 3 antispyware programs and they dont find anything wrong here...
and never had since this application because freeware.
When it WAS adware the antispyware did find the add banner thing...

I have started an invistigation of your claims.. and will post the results.
My bet is that you are wrong...

I am not wrong because I merely posted regarding the warnings and what they
mean....

Based upon those warnings I would not use the product...and I suggested
people leave this suspicious program well alone.

By all means if you can prove the program is totally clean and therefore
people can 'disregard any further warnings' then do so.....and good luck to
you.

But if I were you I would place my bet on McAfee or Webroot being right or
wrong - as its their warnings popping up - not mine.

your product is wrong....

perhaps it is spyware.. LOL

I know webroot...I have used their products in the past.. I could say that
they are mediocre... but sorry its wrong ... and I am right
