Downloading Emails marked as read from the server

We are using web-based email system where our salesmen can get their emails
remotely. However, once they've opened an email remotely, it is marked as
"read" on the server and Outlook will no longer download them. The emails
just sit there on the server, viewable only with the web based email system.

Is it possible to set Outlook to check for and download emails already
marked as read?

No. Your going to have to talk to your web-based mail provider about this.
Outlook will download any and all messages that the server reports as being
present, so what's happening in your case is that the server is not telling
Outlook about the mail that has been marked as read.

Jeff, thanks for taking the time to respond. That is quite disappointing,
but pretty much what I expected to hear.

Kitty, I have the same problem, I suspect that it must be possible to log
into the web mail account using telnet and marking the messages as unread -
i'm currently looking, if i find anything, i'll let u know

Hi, I just posted with a similar problem as an added complication. The mail
shows as being downloaded into Outlook but nothing is there so then I have
the same problem as you. I have a less than perfect temporary fix if you
need the mail on your local machine. Set up an account on OE for the same
mail account and it will download the mail from the server, then import it in
to Outlook. It's not a perfect solution but it works.
