I am curious to know how, if possible, to download device drivers or update
without using the windows update feature. I am running windows vista and i
want to download device drivers to install on another system. I use to go to
the Microsoft website to do this but i cant remember how i use to do this.

the main one i am chasising is the NEC LCD 170v, it appears on my list but i
want to download it seperately to install on another system.

I have searched the hardware website and found that sime drivers are not
listed on it, however windows update shows one of the critical drivers i
need in the windows update panel, I want to know if I can get these without
going through the update process so i can install them on another systen.

Sometimes Windows knows whats best for itself depending on the system it is
installed on. You can't necessarily take an update thats downloaded on one
system from Windows Update and install it on another system. Just enable
automatic updates, and whichever computer you connect the device to it will
automatically download the drivers without user intervention.

You can download complete operating systems from Windows and burn to cd for
installation. I have done this on a number of occasions.
Cheers.
