Download progress bar

Whenever I download a file from the internet, the progress
bar used to show "estimated time left" and a progress
indicator. Now it just shows "estimated time left not
known" downloaded so far (xxxkb)

Can anyone tell me what's happened here? Thanks in advance

I think it depends where you are downloading from.

No, it doesnt matter where I download from, I get the same
behavior. I have a laptop with 2000 running IE6, and it
has never done this...

It depends on the site you are downloading from having the size of file
available in a form the downloading program can use. Some sites don't
have it - and some programs are better than others at reading it too
