download problems

my brother's computer is behaving oddly of late. if a file download is of
6.3 mb ( zonealarm), it downloads 2.5 mb and says done. the result is an
unusable download and wasted time.
windows xp pro, ie 6 with all the patches applied, but no sp1 or 2.running
spybot search&destroy, had getright but uninstalled now.
can someone please advise.

Just a thought, but how do you know it is not messed up on the website that
you trying to download it from? That has happened to me before many times.
Maybe you should send feedback to the owner/operator of the website to make
sure it is not on their end before you start troubleshooting on your end.

Again, just a thought!
