download problem

I have noticed that I can start a download and then go to
another program but when I go back the download it just
setting there doing nothing. This seems to have started
the last few days. It will at time download part of a
file say 30% then just stops and I have to restart it.
Also I can click on a link and it does nothing but I can
reclick it and it works or I click on a link and it goes
to page not found then I refresh and it finds it.

Think I fixed the problems took the cable from computer
to router and cleaned both ends with alcohol and now I
cannot get it to fail. Sometimes it the simple things
that cause the most problems. You would think they would
make a better connector for this.
