Download Problem Windows Defender Beta 2

Trying to download Defender Beta 2 on PC's operating Win xp Svc Pk 2, and
Internet Explorer 6.0... regardless of if I try to run the download, save it
to PC or save to disk I can only download to about 89% at which point the
download grinds to a halt and doesnt continue. I have tried on 4 different
pcs in my house and had the same thing happen. Also asked a friend to do it
on her PC (outside of my house) and she had the same issue. Any idea whats
causing the problem and how I can overcome it? Windows Support closed the
case as unresolved.

1.- First remove all temporarily junk with CCleaner

7.- Go to Windows Update, do an Express scan, and apply all offered updªtes

8.- Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature
update with windows defender will fail until you hªve these files.

10.- Users who normally select advanced Spynet membership should be aware
that the install process will set you back to basic membership, so it's a
good
idea to revisit both the Spynet membership area of Tools, and the Options
area--to see what's different, and check that your old choices have been
preserved.
