Download meter which sits in system tray?

Is there a free utility which shows me a small icon which sits in
XP's system tray and shows me the rate I am downloading from the Net?

I would like something which works in the same way that XP's
taskmanager shows cpu utilization by a tiny level meter when it is
shrunk to the system tray.

NetMeter is the champ. This is 1 of my most used and appreciated Freeware
programs.

(Get Beta 2. It works perfect) http://readerror.gmxhome.de/

Strangely enough, it is Netmeter which I want to replace with
something smaller and which works as a tray icon.

Wow. If you can beat it, be sure to let me know! :)

NetMeter is 260K. You're not going to get much smaller and have all the
functions. It's so flexible, if there's something you don't like about it,
you can change it in the options.

You can hover the tray icon for a quick tool tip showing the stats.

You can use the transparency and click-through function and hover for a
quick look at the graph.

Looks good. But it won't install on my XP because NetPerSec is 16
bit.

I have tried compatibility mode but it dosen't help.

I have NetPerSec running on WinXP right now. Perhaps I pointed you to an
older link. Check alt.binaries.freeware later today for the version I use.

Bob, I want a window showing the download info to be smaller - not
the executable!

NetMeter is a lovely application but unfortunately it doesn't work
the way I want to work. I want to be able to glance at something
which tells me the downoad rate.

NetMeter's window is very small but I find it always seems to be
ontop of something I want to see. Transparency and mouse-hover work
well in order to see what is under NetMeter's window - but I don't
want to move anything except my eyeballs to get the info!

NetMeter's config options are very good. However check out NetPerSec
which is mentioned in this thread as it too is good.

Search on Google for free DUN Meter - plenty of responses

Can't find any screenshots to see what DUN Meter is like.

ISTR that it has quite a large window for its info. Is this right?
