'Download Image'problem, all of a sudden

When I try to download an image file, using 'save
image as' the 'download image' screen appears.

I enter filename and destination & press 'save.'

Screen disappears. (Nothing is saved.)

Normally a screen confirming downloading has appeared,
but not now.

(I have had no problem until yesterday. Reinstalling XP
did not help.)

Your cache is full, right-click your browser icon, properties, delete files or within
IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files.
