Download files from server to Desktop Web?

Hello...

I maintain a couple sites where the client also makes changes, so keeping
our desktop Webs synchronized is a bit of a problem. A long time ago I tried
a "check in/check out" system but that messed up the site miserably.

Is there somewhere that this process is explained in simple enough terms for
a dummy to understand it? And/or ... failing that ... how could I simply
"backward-publish" files that are on the server to my desktop Web?

Thanks in advance for any help ...

Either work directly on the remote server or before making any changes open the remote site directly
in FP via File Menu | Open Web and then publish a copy back to your local machine using File Menu |
Publish web. Both you and the client will need to do this.

Wow...thanks SO much!

I've always "known" you could work directly on the server but never knew
how! That's wonderful! (Guess this is another example of RTFM.)

Appreciate your superfast response too!
