Download a Word template (DOT) file with Internet Explorer

Hi,

I've created a Word DOT template file (testtest.dot) file. It's located on an
IIS5 webserver and can be downloaded on the internet with dasdas
When clients download the template file they can only save it as a .DOC
file.
Why does IE rename the file to a .DOC file ?
But more important: How do i solve this server side ? I want the file to
remain a .DOT file.

tia.

Misschien is het handig om eerst te kijken of dit ook naar andere newsgroups
gaat, voordat je iets post. Klik jij soms ook blindelings op "Reply to all"
als je een mail binnen krijgt ?
Het probleem is trouwens al opgelost

Before posting it's handy to look which other newsgroup(s) are posted as
well. If you get an email do you also click "Reply to all" without looking ?
The problem is solved BTW.

You shouldn't do excessive cross-posting. It's not good Netiquette.

Your question was not relevant to the *inetexplorer* groups, but now
that you have found the answer yourself (that it is Word and not IE
doing the renaming) you should know that.

(et pour les Flamands la même chose)

You call this excessive cross-posting ?
I was posting to the Word and inetexplorer newsgroups since it concerned a
DOT file and IE !

I was downloading a .DOT file using IE and IE renamed it to DOC. So it was
*actually* IE doing the renaming not Word.

It was solved using Content-Disposition in IIS.

Have you tried it (before using Content-Disposition in IIS) with
another browser, preferably a standards-compliant one, like Mozilla
Firefox or Opera?
