downgrade

I started with upgrading from WinME to WinXP HE, then to WinXP Pro.

Is it possible to downgrade to XP HE? I searched the MS KB but
couldn't find anything.

If I choose to do this could someone tell me how to go about it?

No, it's not possible. Why do you want to do this? Are you aware
that XP Home is a subset of Professional and there's nothing in
Home that isn't also in Professional?

Only by formatting the disk and doing a fresh install from scratch
(using the HE upgrade CD and showing it the ME one as required as
evidence of entitlement to upgrade)

You cannot downgrade. What you can do, is a clean install of HE,
providing the ME disc as qualifying media, if HE was an upgrade.

Have to wipe out the XP installation, and start with Windows ME on a
freshly formatted machine.

I assume the resason you are doing this is because your machine is not
up to specification to run XP?
