double windows

dear all,

suddenly now when i open a program, instead of one window, 2 apper. In my
tool bar i can see 2 windows as if i was runnin 2 different programs, but im
not..and when i try to close one, the whole thing closes...

what should i do? evertyhing is doubling itself !
