How do I make a double underline that extends accross the cell and not use
borders command? I know I can do a double underline while holding down the
shift key and clicking on the unerline key but it only underlines the
number.

Click Format then Cells, click on Borders tab and select the double
underline in the Style box

I don't think there is a way without using the borders

One way:

Format/Cell/Font double underline
Format/Cell/Number/Custom * 0

(that's asterisk, space, 0)

Thanks for the help. The "Format/Cell/Number/Custom * General" did the
trick.
