Double layer DVD+R vs. DVD-R. Need advice.

I need to burn a double layer (8.5GB) DVD for family and friends. I noticed
that double layer DVD+R is much cheaper than double layer DVD-R. Is one
format more compatible with DVD players? Is one format more reliable or
longer lasting? And is there anything else I need to consider? I'd rather
not pay up for the double layer DVD-R if I don't have to. Any advice is much
appreciated. Thanks.

If you're talking standalone players, many do NOT play or recognize the dual
layer format DVDs. You can check at www.videohelp.com as to which players
support which formats. I have 4 standalone players and NONE can see my
DVD+R DL disks.
