"double hibernate"

My machine seems to "double hibernate" after i've shut the lid on my laptop. When opened the login screen appears but no sooner have i began to press Ctrl-alt-delete it hibernates again. Any ideas
 
Check the "Stand By" settings. Make sure that Stand By is not invoked at the
same time as (or very close to) Hibernate.
