Double entries in Task List

C

chaucersmom

I am using Outlook 2007. My To-Do Bar shows in the Task List at the bottom
all the items I have flagged, but each is duplicated. If I delete one entry,
both are deleted. How can I eliminate these double entries? Even new flags
are listed as duplicate entries.

I must have clicked something in error, because the list used to not have
double entries. Thanks for your help.

try resetting the view - right click on the field names and choose Customize
then Reset. If this doesn't help, go to the tasks module or folder list -
do you have the folders duplicated?

Thanks for trying. Remember I am a REALLY NEW user of Outlook 2007. (I
think I posted in the New Users area??) I've had Outlook Express before, but
Outlook 2007 is much more complicated.

I cannot find any of the things you referenced in your message. Can you
guide me through these suggestions step-by-step? I really want to get rid of
these duplicate entries.

Diane,

Tried the first suggestion. "Reset" was grayed out. So I must have done it
earlier when I didn't know what I was doing.

I think you are on the right track. I have two sets of "Personal Folders".
When I
click on the second one, there is no option to Delete -- what do I do to get
rid of it?

if you can't right click on one and Close it, then the profile is corrupt -
you can try fixing by following the instructions at
http://outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm - there are two utilities at the
end of the page that may fix it for you. Otherwise you will need to make a
new profile.

Diane - thanks for sticking with me on this one.

I can right click on it and select "Close." However, I get this message
that sounds as if I will foul up Outlook forever: ""If you close the
'Personal Folders' the connection to the server will be permanently deleted.
If you reopen the file on your computer, changes will not be synchronized
with the server." Yikes. Should I just go ahead and close it?

In the meantime I have changed the name of the first folder from 'Personal
Folder' to something else.

Could this problem of duplicate Personal Folders be a result of the Outlook
backup that I am using?

The back up program is called "Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup".
Could the program be backing up my Personal folders in the same place as the
original? I have a gmail account configured and two accounts from Mediacom
-- my broadband company.
