Double clicking in PowerPoint

I used to be able to double-click in PowerPoint to edit an object's
attributes (color, borders, etc.), but now when I double click nothing
happens.

I also cannot go to a slide by double clicking on a slide from Slide Sorter
view.

Any ideas?
