Double click prints Word document

While I was working in Windows Explorer, I tried to double click on an MS
Word file to open it. Instead, the document tried to print.

Then after right clicking on the document name in Explorer, Print is now
listed as the top option in bold. Open is now the 3rd option right before
Open with...

However, this seems to only be the case for Word documents. If I double
click on an Excel spreadsheet, it opens just fine.

I tried the commands for the similar problem with the Search function
popping up when a file is double clicked, but that did not work.

Thank you for your help. :)

I tried opening the Detect and Repair Utility within Word, and it didn't
work. It prompted me for the Office 2000 SR-1 CD.

I am running Office 2000. After upgrading to SR-1 online, my computer never
has recognized my Office 2000 cd again. It always prompts for the Office
2000 SR-1 CD, and I don't have one. It won't let me uninstall Office 2000
SR-1, repair it, or anything like that.

Last week, I replaced my main hard drive. I used the disk utility that came
with my new Seagate hard drive to move my operating system to my new hard
drive. Could the move to the new hard drive contribute to this?

Thank you for your help.

Word's settings are fairly complicated compared to notepad.

Start - Control Panel - Folder Options - File Types and scroll down to ..doc. What's it say. Is there an advanced or restore button (it says one or the other) on the dialog. If Restore click it then click Advanced (else just click Advanced). Open should be in Bold, if not select it and press Set Default.

I just tried to do a system restore to solve the problem, but my system
restore utility is crashing. It doesn't even give me an error message. It
just asks if I want to send information about the crash to Microsoft.

Should I be worried?

Thanks.

Well it's not good. Try turning off System Restore, then turning it on again.

It crashed when I tried to click on the System Restore tab. So I did a
search on the system restore failing and found out how to reinstall System
Restore. That worked. I had to set up a new Recycle Bin, new icons for all
my MS Office files, and new Breifcases after this hard drive move. I've
learned a lot through this process.

Again, thank you for all of your help!

I'm not a fan of cloning drives. I have all programs copied to hard drive and I just reinstall from the CD files copied to HD..
