Dotted line box appears around selection

I have recently seen a dotted-line box appear around items that I select with
my mouse and that box was never there before.
Is this something new or is it a problem?

Where do I find Hide Boundaries in the View menu? I don't understand what you
mean.

I figured it out and fixed it Thanks so much

That is the size of the text box. If you do not want to see the lines,
select View, Hide boundaries and guides.
